Healthy Home Decorating Episode 7 - Buying and Selling a Healthy Home

Our Old Home

Okay, today I am ready to pull my hair out.  We are fortunate to have sold our home quickly and thankful that we have this home with a relative while preparing to move to NC.  Now, this was an arrangement - we would help her fix up her home so she could sell it quicker.  But I have found that living with other people can make you slowly loose your  mind.  Did I say slowly?  Let me rephrase that: AHHHHHHH.  I love this person, she is kind and gentle and would never  say a bad word to anyone; well not directly.  She hints around and uses analogies instead of coming right out with it.    The other day we used her car for an errand because it was easier  ( we had her permission).    Instead of saying don't use my car she said "Oh my, I got already to go to the grocery and saw that my car was gone then I remembered that you had it. "    So, note to self:.. "use only your own car".   Seriously it isn't that bad, but it has been a couple of decades since I had to live with anyone and its tough.  It's crazy not having your own things around BUT at the same time it is remarkable how little stuff you actually need.

The past two weeks I was staying at an extended stay hotel because we were on the road doing promotions.  I had never stayed at one of these before but I was surprised at how efficient they are. I had a full sized refrigerator, a two burner stove, a microwave, a kitchen sink and all the cooking/ eating utensils were included.  There was a small island counter to eat at, a desk, a king size bed, a large dresser/mirror, recliner and a TV.  They allowed me to bring my dog Sammy and there was plenty of room for his mid-sized cage.  Not only was it nice, but it taught me that you really don't need a lot of "things" around to feel comfortable — its more about spending your time the way you need and not always sharing.  But  my affirmation is "my life is perfect", and if I am going to believe that, I guess I will have to stop pulling out my hair, put on a bigger smile and know that conflict can't happen if I don't let it.

I can't promise  that I am thrilled - I begged my husband to take me away to NC before I went bald but he says we made a promise.  So,  I will be here until I learn the lesson I am supposed to or until I loose my mind which ever comes first.  I guess (un)healthy homes come in many forms.
Thinking of you in your healthy homes…
Penny

In this episode  7 you will find many tips on buying and selling a healthy home.  Penny interviews her King Thompson  Coldwell Banker realtor Gail Merrell and gets her perspective on how Penny's home differed from other homes she has sold and shown.  Penny gives some great advice on curb appeal, staging, subtle prep for showing, and ambiance.  You'll also receive tips on what to look for and how to look for a potential new home.  This podcast is longer than any other we have done and for that I apologize.  We value your mind-share and time but there is so much cool information from Penny and Gail that I didn't have the heart to edit it too much.  Listen and enjoy, and please leave a comment if you feel inclined.  Our shows are made for you and your input helps us to bring you what you want.
